NERD COMMUNITY ASSEMBLE for Nerd Nite KW episode 31 at The Boathouse Tuesday April 28th!

Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 7:30pm at The Boathouse 57 Jubilee Drive (Victoria Park), Kitchener
Tickets are $5 at the door for non-members and we will have year long memberships for sale for $30.

Presentation #1: Brew Ha! The History of Beer in Waterloo Region.

Sally Heath has been dabbling in the world of craft beer for five years, when she first started learning more about beer styles in an effort to understand why she preferred some beers to others. Since then, she has made it a personal mission to integrate her love of knowledge with her love of barley-based beverages. Sally spends her days working at the Centre for Teaching Innovation and Excellence at Wilfrid Laurier University, but in her spare time, works at beer events for Grand River Brewing. She is currently working towards her Cicerone designation.

Presentation #2: Real World CSI Cyber

Jamie McQuaid CISSP, EnCE is a forensic investigator with a background in corporate investigations spanning various industries from telecommunications to financial services and manufacturing. His responsibilities included conducting both forensic and physical investigations globally across the organization. McQuaid is currently a Forensics Consultant at Magnet Forensics where he assists in the development of Internet Evidence Finder (IEF) and supports their customers with his combined expertise in forensic investigation and IEF product knowledge. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Computer Security and Investigations from Fleming College and an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto.

Our Artist in Residence for the night is local artist/nerd/celebrity Janice Lee!
Janice Lee is a folk artist rooted in Kitchener, Ontario. She is a poet, musician, storyteller and community organizer. Janice sings, speaks and shares stories about love and struggle, community and friendship. She is soulful, off-the-cuff and fearlessly honest. She is passionate about dismantling systems of oppression and empowering people through the arts.
Janice is the City of Kitchener’s Artist in Residence for 2015 working on a videopoem project called Folk Myths of Kitchener. She is the artistic director of the KW Poetry Slam.

Our award winning trivia will be hosted by our Trivia Overlord, Eric Moon. 20 educational questions accompanied by Eric’s signature entertaining memes and GIFs.

And of course, the usual “cool” door prizes, terrible trivia prizes, and awesomeness brought to you by your Nerd Nite KW team: Charlotte, Ryan, Eric, and Becky!
